SECOND Division Heytesbury continued their impressive start to the season after earning a 2-1 win over near-neighbours Warminster Town Reserves in the second round of the Briken Motors & AM Print & Copy A&B Cup.

Warminster broke the deadlock on nine minutes through Shaun Tarr and maintained their lead until the 75th minute when Aaron Donaldson headed in a Kieron Edwards cross.

With six minutes remaining Brendan Hind struck a stunning 30-yard free kick for Heytesbury to win it.

Second division leaders Holt faced little opposition from third division Bratton, romping home 9-0.

Mark Reynolds twice and Zack Manna scored before half time, Reynolds completing his hat-trick in the second half as Jake Herd, Bradley Godridge, Tom Wade, Mark Maguire and a Paul Flanagan own goal also found the net.

After beating Melksham Town A 5-2 in their league outing a fortnight earlier, FC Box Steam Brewery repeated the trick, completing a 7-3 win, despite having Jason Povey sent off for two yellow cards.

Povey and Matt Hall scored twice, a Warren Maidment own goal, Reuben Spong and Steve Lewin completing the scoring as Jordan Kirk, Dave Macey and James Eatough netted for Melksham.

Freshford United celebrated the opening of their new clubhouse and changing rooms at Brown’s Park with an expected victory over third division side FC Trowbridge who they beat 8-0.

Ricky Trott, two from Mark Gerrish and Adam Hyde made it 4-0 at half time, Gerrish scoring two more as a second for Trott and Tom Rooney wrapped it up.

The all-division one duel at Bratton, featuring joint-leaders Westbury Town and mid-table Trowbridge Wanderers Reserves went to form with the home team progressing to the quarter-finals thanks to a 4-2 victory.

Westbury led 2-0 at the interval courtesy of two goals from Phil Hampson, Daryl Maxwell and Hugh Buckley also scoring as Will Bayley and Mike Cooksey responded.

First division Hilperton United and second division White Horse FC needed extra time and penalties to resolve their tie.

Horse prevailed after penalties with their keeper Andy Ladd being the hero as he saved two spot kicks.

Dean Coles, Bradley Witham and Neil Hulford scored for Hilperton in normal and extra time, Kane Scott, who also missed a penalty, Dave Whyte and Allan Clarke (penalty) responding.

Clarke, Stuart Barber, Dale Rowland and Nick Mead scored successful penalties for Horse, Nathan Smith’s spot-kick being saved by Ladd to confirm his sides place in the quarter finals.

Both first division North Bradley and third division Potterne FC received walkovers into the last eight after respective opponents Castle Combe and Steeple Ashton were unable to raise teams.
