INJURY-HIT Melksham Town secured their second win in as many days on Monday as they beat Odd Down 4-3 in the Toolstation League Premier Division.

Town moved to within a point of the top after claiming their third consecutive league victory to add to their Vase win over Pewsey on Saturday.

After a goalless first half Town found themselves behind just minutes after the re-start, a goal that appeared to kick the hosts into action.

Town found an equaliser through Mike Perrott in the 55th minute before Odd Down had a man sent off in the 64th minute and Gary Higdon scored the resulting penalty.

Their lead was doubled on 72 minutes when Ryan Bennett found the back of the net, but it was a nervy final ten minutes for the home side after they conceded with just seven minutes left on the clock.

The lead was restored though through Dan Fibley and a goal from Bath Down with the last kick of the game rounded off the thrilling second half.

“It was an incredible game,” said Melksham Town manager Darren Perrin, who was without 10 first team players for the match

“For the first half there was nothing in the game and it was pretty uneventful but in the second half was amazing.

“I just told the boys at half time to have a bit of belief and it was not the ideal start. “After the goal though we sparked into life and we were very good.

“We now have a mini-run of four consecutive wins and we are fully behind the lads who are doing a great job in difficult circumstances.

“I have never seen anything like it in my time as a manager, but we will not bring new players in we will stick to our ethos and promote from within.”
