SUBSTITUTE Luke Ballinger struck in the second half as Melksham Town took their unbeaten run in the Toolstation League Premier Division to four matches with a 1-0 victory over Ilfracombe Town at The Conigre.

Darren Perrin's men have now won seven and drawn one of their last eight home matches and had first-half chances through Stu Greener and Dan Kovacs.

Ballinger netted the winner with his first touch just after the hour mark, slotting home after Shaun Benison's pass.

Devizes Town put a tough week behind them as they thrashed Wells City 5-0 at Nursteed Road.

Town, who were deducted four points for fielding an ineligible player earlier this season, took their tally to nine goals in the last two matches as Mark Barnes netted twice for the home side.

In Hellenic League Division One West, Purton were downed 1-0 at home by Clanfield.

Back in action after a month, Purton suffered a third straight defeat and were missing main striker Blaine Fitzgerald as well as James Richards, Joe Dorey, Steven May, Paul Carson and Callum Hall.

Jamie Butt scored the only goal of the game for Clanfield after 27 minutes.

Luke Cordery scored for Malmesbury Victoria, but they were beaten 2-1 at Tuffley Rovers, for whom Shayne Bradley and Mark Ford netted.

A youthful Pewsey Vale sisde were beaten 3-1 at home by Team Solent in Sydenhams League Division One.

Mark Field gave the home side the lead, but Solent struck back twice, the second coming from the rebound to a penalty that had been brilliantly saved by Richie Payne.

Ryan Bragg hit a post for Vale but Shaun Bartlett struck again for the visitors.
