WESTBURY'S White Horse FC, who are massive favourites to take the Division Three title in their first season, moved a step closer to their goal with a 3-0 victory at a windswept Marshfield.

The victory sees them close the gap on leaders Holt to just four points and having won all their 10 matches to date and, with three games in hand on Ben Hogg’s table-toppers, it would be huge shock if Pete Ayton’s side weren’t crowned champions later in the season.

Battling not just the rain and their stubborn hosts, White Horse got off to the perfect start with Dave Appleyard putting them 1-0 ahead after just two minutes.

Paul Beavers added a second on 15 minutes and it looked as if the guests would run riot but it wasn’t to be as Marshfield somehow battened down the hatches.

They held out until the 60th minute and then it took something special to break their resolve, a 25 thunderbolt from Dan Cox rippling the net to wrap up a 3-0 success for the White Horse men.

Polenez Westbury 1 Trowbridge Rangers 6

A LATE pitch inspection at Leighton Sports Centre, passed it fit for Polenez Westbury to host Trowbridge Rangers.

The home team would probably have preferred it if the fixture had fallen foul to the weather as they were unable to keep pace with their guests who ran out comfortable 6-1 winners.

Rangers had the points in the bag before half time as two goals each for Dan Moore and Tom Doveton gave them a 4-0 lead.

After the break the prolific Moore scored two more which took his tally for the season to 17 in just eight appearances. Matek Kloc scored a late consolation for Polenez but only after Rangers had completed their half dozen.
