DEFENDING champions Melksham Town recovered from a 2-0 deficit to book their place in the semi-finals of the Wiltshire Senior Cup last weekend.

Matty Horsell and Sam Wadieh struck to put Hellenic League Highworth Town ahead at the Conigre but Darren Perrin’s men roared back to notch up a 3-2 victory.

Gary Higdon and Dan Kovacs were both on target before Will Stead took advantage of a last-gasp error from the visiting goalkeeper to seal Melksham’s progress.

Meanwhile, Pewsey Vale won’t be joining Melksham in the last four of the county cup, despite pushing runaway Toolstation League First Division leaders Bradford Town all the way.

Lewis Taylor’s side put up a spirited display at Trowbridge Road but eventually succumbed to a 1-0 defeat, with Bradford substitute Dan Fowler grabbing the decisive goal.

Corsham Town were also knocked out of the competition as they were beaten 2-1 at home by Purton.

In the Toolstation League, Devizes Town notched up a fourth win on the trot as they beat Chard Town 2-1 at Nursteed Road.

Jamie McLaughlin and Jake Waters got the goals for Justin Webster and Darran Walters’ men.

Stuart Windsor took his tally to three goals in two games for Calne Town but his brace wasn’t enough to earn Simon Gardner’s men all three points against Keynsham Town, with the Lilywhites held to a 2-2 draw.

But Dave Ferris’ Chippenham Park got back to winning ways with a 2-0 home victory over Cheddar.

In the Hellenic League, Wootton Bassett Town’s clash with Flackwell Heath and Malmesbury Victoria’s trip to Easington Sports were both postponed due to waterlogged pitches.
