TROWBRIDGE & DISTRICT LEAGUE DIVISION THREE: Leaders Holt hit Drummers for 15
2:30pm Monday 14th October 2013 in Football
FOLLOWING their two-week suspension, Market Lavington-based Drummer Boy returned to action with a trip to third division table toppers Holt who, after dropping their first points of the season last weekend when they were held to a draw by Zeals, made a returning to winning ways by hammering their guests 15-0.
Fynn McCarthy-Driver had a field day in the autumn sunshine as he helped himself to a five-timer, four of which came in the first half.
Ryan Godridge found the net four times grabbing two in each half, Dan Cockerill and Jamie Parlour scored two each, Ben Hogg’s single along with George Dunford’s own goal made up Holt’s 15.
Trowbridge Rangers 3 The Stiffs 0
LOCAL rivals Trowbridge Rangers and The Stiffs locked horns on the pitch they both share at The Stallards and like last term's meeting between the teams that Rangers won 6-4 when they were afforded home advantage, it was James Goddard’s side who claimed the bragging rights again courtesy of a 3-0 win.
With neither side able to break the deadlock in a gripping first half that saw both sides go close it took Rangers until the 78th minute to unlock the Stiffs' defence.
The turning point coming two minutes earlier to their opener when the Stiffs lost evergreen defender Ade Giles who was outstanding as he rolled back the years to keep the Rangers youngsters at bay.
Dan Moore fashioned the opener for James Goddard’s side and further goals from Tom Doveton and James Stone wrapped up the hard earned win for Rangers.
Zeals FC 1 United FC 4
A ROAD trip for Trowbridge-based United FC to Zeals was a profitable one for Iljaz Iljazi’s visitors to Woolverton Lane as they grabbed themselves a 4-1 victory and with it the three points that sees them leapfrog and inactive White Horse FC into second place in the standings.
United, who have been in good form this season got off to a great start and took the lead through Marcin Kaminski. United doubled their advantage when Allen Shavon scored his fourth of the campaign. A second from Kaminski made it 3-0 to the visitors at the break.
A second half effort from Jordan Shorrocks was just a consolation for Zeals as a superb strike from the impressive Allen Shavon put the icing on what was another fine performance from Iljazi’s side.
