RISING British star Jessica Mendoza produced a sparkling display to win the feature competition on day four of the London International Horse Show at Olympia.

The 19-year-old, from Tockenham near Calne, has enjoyed an outstanding year, helping Great Britain's showjumpers secure Rio Olympics qualification four months ago and runners-up spot at the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup final in Barcelona.

And she showcased her talent once again by winning the Longines Christmas Cracker on Friday night with a world-class performance.

A hugely competitive jump-off saw the top four finishers separated by less than two seconds, but it was Mendoza who prevailed in a time of 31.43 seconds aboard her top horse and Rio hopeful Spirit T.

Switzerland's former world number one Pius Schwizer was second aboard PSG Fortune, with Britain's Laura Renwick on Bintang II third and former European individual champion Kevin Staut fourth, riding Qurack de Falaise.

Mendoza was in fine form again - on Wan Architect - as Chloe Winchester won her second high-profile British showjumping title in six months when she was crowned British Under-23 champion today.

The 21-year-old Suffolk rider ended a memorable year by following up her win in the Queen Elizabeth II Cup at Hickstead last June by landing another major success on Avoca Valkyrie.

Abbe Burchmore-Eames, who was first into the arena and set the standard with a superb clear round, finished second on Wilandri E.

Mendoza and Wan Architect hit final planks in the jump-off and dropped to third place.
