MARLBOROUGH-based couple Tim and Jonelle Price helped New Zealand into second place at the Nations Cup.

The pair have boosted their Olympic hopes after Tim Price finished fourth on Wesko at Aachen, one of just five combinations to jump clear on the cross country while accruing no time penalties.

His wife Jonelle Price climbed one place to finish sixth on Faerie Dianimo while Sir Mark Todd was two places back on NZB Campino.

Tim Price was the best individual for the Kiwis, as he finished on his dressage score of 40.2, to hlp his country take second overall behind Germany.

Jonelle Price was lying in eighth place after a dressage score of 37.4, but added 3.6 points after coming in 6.49 seconds over the optimum time in the cross-country stage.

“As a team event, this has been great,” said Tim Price.

“We can see where we can improve and feel we are knocking on the door to give a stunning team like the Germans a run for their money.

“Right from the first fence I had a line and everywhere I went I rode exactly how I wanted, and it needed to be that way in order to make the time achievable and not be too scrappy.”
