CHIPPENHAM rider Becky Neale has been selected for a sponsorship scheme aimed at helping riders pursue their dreams in the equestrian world.

The 29-year-old will join the Leg Up For Talent scheme, which assists riders by introducing them to potential new sponsors, but hopes the Wiltshire community will also boost her prospects via social media.

Neale owns two horses, 11-year-old Pentrefelin Layla and her three year old son Plaidyparc Diamond Smuggler (known as Squirt) and has been been riding since she was five.

She said: “Layla and I have been successful in dressage and working hunter showing, we are now going British Eventing this year with our first event this weekend. Squirt is showing in-hand this year as rules state he cannot be ridden competitively till the age of four (but) we have high hopes for him next year under saddle.’’ Supported by her mum Kay and dad Steve, she added: “It’s an expensive sport and the scheme aims to help people who can’t afford to do it without their help.

“If people want to help they can help by boosting my social media profile, which is key to attracting sponsorship.

“The idea is that I do my best to raise my profile in the area and get as many likes on my Facebook page as I can to provide a network for sponsors. Once I’ve done this Leg Up For Talent can put me in touch with suitable potential sponsors who can help me to continue competing.’’
