CHIPPENHAM’S Hardenhuish School was represented by two teams in the National School Equestrian Association event, run by Dauntsey’s School, at West Wiltshire Equestrian Centre, near Holt, on Sunday.

The team, comprising of Year 7 pupils Harriet Cole, Lowenna Harvey, Kate Selman and Lilly Goverd, were drawn first to go, all four girls jumping a stylish clear round to win the competition.

Team manager Julie Bush said: “I am absolutely thrilled with the team performance. The girls all rode beautifully and made it look very easy.

“They are good friends and were very supportive of each other and demonstrated fantastic team work.’’ There was tough competition from 20 other school teams including Stonar, Cheam, Sheldon, Dauntsey’s and St Margaret’s in Calne.

Cole finished fifth individually, Goberd eighth and Harvey 10th.

Selman said: “It was a difficult course but I was pleased with Freddie Rockstar’s performance.’’ A second team entered in Class Two comprised of Alice and Tom Edwards and Mireille and Phoebe Abbots.

Mireille Abbots was on fine form and, after a fast clear round, ended up fifth out of the 82 riders.
