CHIPPENHAM Town manager Mark Collier is happy with his side’s start to the season but insists his squad will all have their part to play.

The Bluebirds have two games over the Bank Holiday weekend. First, they travel to St Neots on Saturday afternoon before hosting Cirencester Town on Monday.

“We have competition for places and we have been injury-free for the first five games. The reality is that we will need the squad players,” said the Bluebirds boss.

“We have two games over the weekend so those players who haven’t played will have a big say and we will need them.”

Collier also said that he is happy with his current crop of players, so isn’t active in the transfer market.

He said: “At the moment, we aren’t looking but if someone became available, then we would be interested, but we have strength in depth and I know we will need it.”

The start to the season has been a tiring one for the Bluebirds, who have played on Saturday and Tuesday most weeks, including long away trips, but Chippenham now have a week to prepare for their Bank Holiday fixtures.

“Saturday-Tuesday isn’t too bad at the start of the season because everyone just wants to play but we have had some long journeys already and that takes it out of you. Saturday, we travel to St Neots, so that will be another 9.30am coach trip.” Collier added.

After maintaining an unbeaten start to the campaign, Collier is confident his team can go again at the weekend.

“Another victory means we are feeling confident. St Neots have gone to Weymouth and won but they’re in a bit of turmoil at the moment.

“Having said that, you don’t go there and win unless you’re a half-decent side. The good thing about St Neots is they have a fantastic playing surface.

“The lads are ready to go. We are looking forward to St Neots.”

Chippenham rose to the top of the table last Saturday with a hard-fought 1-0 win over previous leaders Leamington at Hardenhuish Park.

David Pratt’s goal was enough to see the Bluebirds to a crucial victory, with their opponents reduced to 10 men when goalkeeper Tony Breeden was sent off four minutes before half-time for a second bookable offence.
