JANUARY 2015 proved to be very successful for the Bluebirds as they recorded their fifth win of the month.

This victory was ample revenge for their five-goal thrashing at Dunstable back in September.

The first half was a dour affair with the only goalmouth action being Dunstable’s Tony Fontanelle’s weak effort and Chippenham’s James Guthrie’s free kick that came to nothing.

After the break Chippenham upped the tempo and gradually imposed themselves on their Dunstable visitors, with Bryan Smith signalling their intent as his early shot went wide.

The all-important goal came on 65 minutes when visiting keeper Luke Chambers half-hearted attempt to gather the ball as it was played back to him by a visiting defender conceded a corner.

James Guthrie’s flag-kick saw Greg Tindle’s effort blocked, but the ball found its way to Ashan Holgate who turned it in from close range.

A quarter of an hour from time Alex Ferguson robbed the last defender and raced free but Chambers redeemed himself as he blocked the effort and Holgate’s follow up shot went straight at the Dunstable keeper.

New signing Jack Odam was introduced for the last few minutes but it was not sufficient for him to make an impression.

Dunstable rarely troubled the Bluebirds in the second period with substitute Dave Moli shooting wide and Jamale McKenzie-Lowe failing to beat Kent Kauppinen with a near post effort.
