CHIPPENHAM TOWN'S unbeaten start to 2015 came crashing to an end in Dorset as high-flying Poole Town put the Bluebirds to the sword in the opening 22 minutes at a wet and windy Tatnam last night.

The Dorset hosts raced into a three-goal lead and comfortably held on although the Bluebirds gave the scoreline an air of respectability with a late consolation goal.

Chippenham made the worst possible start with skipper Matt Coupe turning into his own net from a Luke Burbidge cross inside two minutes.

The Dolphins then doubled their lead on 17 minutes as Burbidge found AFC Bournemouth loanee Joe Quigley and he held off the attentions of the Bluebirds back line before poking into the net.

The game was virtually over as a contest midway through the first half when Marvin Brooks was brought down in the area and Steve Devlin converted the resultant penalty.

Poole continued to dominate in the second half, enjoying plenty of possession but were unable to breach the visiting defence again.

In the final twenty minutes, Chippenham took the game to Poole and Nick Hutchings in the home goal was forced to tip an effort over the bar before Alex Ferguson squeezed home a consolation goal after a Bluebirds free-kick hit the wall and ballooned up into the air.
