CHIPPENHAM Town’s Jon Beeden reckons the adrenaline will be flowing when his side attempt to tackle Conference South Hemel Hempstead Town in the FA Cup this weekend.

The Bluebirds face a formidable assignment in the third qualifying round as they take on last season’s Southern League Premier Division champions, the Tudors, who took the title by a ten-point margin last term, at Hardenhuish Park.

But defender Beeden sees no reason why Chippenham, who have beaten lower-league opposition in the form of Sholing and Ardley United in the competition this season, can’t prove just as successful in the role of underdog.

“We’ve had easy draws so far that we’ve been expected to win but when you’re still in the competition at this stage, you expect to come up against teams like this,” said Beeden.

“We know what a good team they were and I’m sure that they’ll have brought in players and got even better this season because they’re at a higher level.

“But I’m looking forward to it. There should be a good atmosphere and the adrenaline should be pumping.

“I think that we’ve got a great group of players and we can definitely shock a few people.”
