CHIPPENHAM Town have completed the signing of former Swindon Town and Cheltenham Town midfielder Michael Pook.
The 28-year-old began the Southern League Premier Division campaign at Hungerford Town and could make his debut for the Bluebirds tomorrow at Sholing in the FA Cup first qualifying round.
With opportunities limited at the big-spending Crusaders, Bluebirds boss Mark Collier put in seven days notice to bring the experienced player to Hardenhuish Park.
“We knew that we needed experience and Michael has got plenty of it,” Collier told the Gazette and Herald.
“We put in seven days notice for him and I’m pleased that we have agreed terms and he will go into the matchday squad.
“He knows the game and he is a good signing for us.”
Pook came up through the ranks at Swindon making more than 100 appearances for the Robins between 2003 and 2009.
But as his opportunities at his hometown club became limited Pook made the switch to Cheltenham where he spent two years before moving on to the non-league circuit where he has played for Forest Green Rovers and Maidenhead United.
