Box wicketkeeper David Kelly just misses a catch as Bradford batsman Ian Pinchen hits out during his side’s nine-wicket Division 1 win on Saturday
BRADFORD Town went second in Division One ahead of their top-of-the-table meeting at leaders Hinton Charterhouse this weekend with a nine-wicket defeat of struggling Box.
The match was reduced to 40 overs a side after a late start and, having won the toss, Bradford bowled, reducing their visitors to 100 all out.
Spinner Dean Bird had Chris Bulititude (16) and Charlie Simpkins (two) out, before adding Tony Trotman 922) and David Kelly for a duck in the same over.
Box were 45-4 from 25 overs and while Matt Harrington (0-21) kept it tight at one end, Bird completed a five-wicket haul (5-34).
Tony Laws also got in on the act with 3-33 from nine overs.
Steve Hall (41) batted aggressively, but Paul Vooght (2-12) finished the innings off.
The reply got off to a bad start with the returning Adam Cooksey dismissed for a duck in the second over. Bradford were soon on top however, with a partnership between Ian Pinchen and Laws.
With rain starting to fall, Bradford scored aggressively and were soon over the required score needed if the game had to finish due to the weather.
However, it wasn’t long before the experienced pair of Pinchen (42no) and Laws (45no) took them to the winning target with an excellent 99-run partnership in just 16 overs.
Elsewhere, Beanacre & Melksham were 42-4 chasing Westinghouse’s 155-8 when their match was abandoned.
Steve Ferris made 60 for Westinghouse as Andy Footner took 3-14.
Calne claimed a five-wicket win over Collingbourne, Tom Nott taking 5-39 and Tom Richards 3-22 in Collingbourne’s 133 all out.
Richards and Nott then made 40 and 35no respectively to guide their side home.
Division 2
LACOCK claimed a 110-run triumph over Swindon United Churches in a rain-affected encounter.
Miles Copeland hit 49, Matt Cookson 46 and Nige Curtis 27 in Lacock’s 169 all out.
Rain ended the match 26 overs into the United Churches chase with the Swindon side at 59-6, some way short of the 98 they needed.
Urchfont were comfortable 116-run victors over Corsham 3rd after amassing 248-8. Cosmo Cupid scored 62 and Joe Moloney 56, Simon Acornley taking 6-70 for Corsham.
Despite an unbeaten 81 from Mark Hick, the chase fell well short on 132 all out.
Division 3

Perritt’s knock formed the basis of his side’s 233-7 and, despite 93 from Nick Stacey, Wanborough fell short.
Biddestone 3rd (61-4) knocked off the 59 runs required after bowling out Buscot Park cheaply, Andy Marsh taking 5-21.
