A KEEN cricketer has stunned her teachers at Hardenhuish School after she was scouted by a team competition in the Women's Cricket Super League.

Melissa Story, who was recently crowned as Wiltshire's young cricketer of the year, was invited to attend Southern Vipers' Young Vipers regional development centre this winter allowing her to develop her skills alongside the Southampton based team.

The Year 13 pupil, who has also been teaching girls at Hardenhuish much to the delight of the school's PE team, will now be monitored by the Southern Vipers with the potential to play for the Vipers in the future.

Mrs Laura Davidge-Lumber, curriculum leader for girls PE, said: “Huge congratulations to Melissa, she is not only an outstanding cricketer but she is also a fantastic role model to the younger players.

"Melissa has just completed her Level 3 Sports Leaders qualification and, as part of this course, she has run our lunchtime Girls Cricket Club passing on her extensive knowledge and passion for cricket to all the players.”
