CORSHAM Wyverns overcame both the opposition and the weather to be crowned Wiltshire Wallop T20 champions at Station Road on Sunday.

The Premier One club hosted three Prem Two Glos/Wilts rivals, with Chippenham, Goatacre and Burbage & Easton Royal completing the finals day line-up.

Corsham were victorious in the first semi final, setting Burbage & Easton Royal a target of 150 that was to prove too much.

The second semi final between Chippenham and Goatacre was affected by the weather, but Goatacre successfully chased down Chippenham’s first innings target of 124 in the final over.

With heavy rain falling, teams and officials came together to decide on a suitable format for the final, with a shortened five-overs-a-side match taking place, Corsham batting first. Thanks to captain Ashur Morrison, who posted a half-century, Corsham set Goatacre a target of 76 to win.

Goatacre made a fine effort to chase down the score, being ahead of the rate after two overs, having scored 38 off just 12 balls. But Corsham were able to sufficiently restrict them to earn a two-run triumph and lif the crown.
