ROYAL Wootton Bassett returned to the summit of Division One after they claimed more points from their win over Hinton Charterhouse than Bear Flat did in their success at Urchfont.

The top two teams began the day level on points, with Bear Flat sitting pretty at the top.

However, they could only claim 19 points from their three-wicket win at Urchfont.

Bassett, meanwhile, were collecting 21 points for their efforts in a six-wicket success, with Ben Mattick hitting an unbeaten 40 as the hosts comfortably chased down Hinton’s 106 all out in 36 overs.

Meanwhile, Corsham 2nd recorded only their second win of the season, their first since the opening day, with a 64-run victory over neighbours Box.

Corsham, who had three academy players in their side, batted first after winning the toss and were bowled out for 212 with Ben Da Costa (34) and Sam Mitchell (32) top scoring.

In reply, Box were restricted to just 14-0 after the opening eight overs, with Jon Siggins and Olly Overton bowling well.

Fifteen-year-old Luke Draper, making his debut, was brought into the attack and he picked up 3-30 before Will Wales picked up three wickets as Box were dismissed for 148.

Division Two

Biddestone 2nds claimed a seven-wicket win at basement side Beanacre & Melksham.

Pete Haywood top scored for Beanacre, who were asked to bat first, with 62 as they were bowled out for 126 with Kieran Gash (4-38) the pick of the Biddestone bowlers.

James Bartlett lead the charge for for the hosts in their reply with 39, while Akito Jacques (32), Aiden Andrews (25) and James Howells (18) all chipped in en route to victory.

Swindon United Churches went down to a six wicket defeat at home to Swindon Nalgo having been unable to fully recover from another disastrous start to their batting.

Despite the defeat, the Sevenhampton-based side have actually gained slight ground on Beehive (Southwick) and Bradford on Avon above them.

Having won the toss and opting to bat first, Churches saw opener Matt Runkel back in the hutch having not troubled the scorers, before Jimmy Mann (1) and skipper Richard Martin (0) quickly followed suit.

With only two overs gone, Churches were reeling at 1-3 and required a watchful 45 from Daniel Hunt to repair the damage.

In his 118-ball innings, Hunt shared a 31-run partnership with Liam Brooks (21) and a 100-run stand with Chris Gilchrist, who hit a 55-ball 57, as Churches were eventually bowled out for 166 in the 44th over.

The Nalgo chase was completed in the 38th over with Aviandash (54), Khan (47) and Irfan (26) leading the way.

Division Three

Wroughton Wranglers claimed a one-wicket success at Seagry.

Having restricted their hosts to 193-6, Josh Moncrieff the pick of the Wroughton bowlers with 2-21, the visitors sneaked home in the final over with Ben Webber (59) and Craig Taylor (43) top-scoring.

Meanwhile, Potterne 3rd suffered a seven-wicket loss to leaders Bath Hospitals.

Jack Coyler fell one short of his century, while James Shadwell hit 60 as Potterne posted 239-5. But Bath’s John Fair struck 109 as they claimed victory in the 43rd over.

Division Four

Steve Silk’s unbeaten 94 saw leaders Chippenham 2nd secure an eight-wicket win at All Cannings. Having bowled out their hosts for 132, the Hardenhuish Park side reached their target inside 21 overs.

Divison Five

Biddestone 3rd suffered a 30-run loss at Bathford.

The hosts were dismissed for 185, with Paul Merrett hitting 57, while Pippa Brown (3-29) and Sam Smith (3-30) were the pick of the bowlers.

However, Biddestone were bowled out for 155 with Graham Horn (36) top-scoring, while Bathford’s Martin Gurney picked up 4-28.

Combe Down’s Simon Elliman hit an unbeaten 53 in his side’s eight wicket success over Goatacre 3rd.

Having won the toss and putting the visitors in, Combe skipper Peter Lee-Wright (4-21) reduced them to 42-4 after 17 overs before Matt Holmes (35) and Luke Stoneham (39) added 57 but, once their partnership was broken, Goatacre were bowled out for 110.

In reply, the hosts raced to 68 for the loss of just Tom Hulbert (38) after 10 overs before Elliman saw his team home inside 21 overs.

Division Six

Burbage and Easton Royal 3rd hit the summit following their 62-run success over Corsham 4th.

With previous leaders Potterne 4th, losing at Royal Wootton Bassett 3rd by 82 runs, Burbage were bowled out for 203 with Charlie Green (46), Don Lohrentz (42) and Alan Wheeler (39) giving them a solid platform.

In reply, Nick Cranston’s 4-25 helped the new league leaders to victory as Corsham were restricted to 141-9.

Division Seven

Purton 2nd stayed top of the table following their seven-wicket success over their Malmesbury counterparts.

The visitors posted 232-5 from their 45 overs with Sam Jones striking 103, however, Purton claimed victory in the 40th over of their reply thanks to an unbeaten 99 from Dave Allen and a 54 from Neil Little.

Division Eight

Highworth strengthened their grip on top spot following a 44-run win at Box 2nd.

The table-toppers were bowled out for 186 with Luke Roche leading the way with 43.

Roche then went on to pick up 5-27 as Box were dismissed in the 41st over for 142.

Division Nine

Biddestone 4ths picked up an eight-wicket success over Wanborough 2nd.

The visitors won the toss and were restricted to 115-8 with Martin Hewitt (3-16) the pick of the bowlers.

In reply, Alex Chrsyal (64*) and Mark Merriman (39*) shared a century-stand to see Biddestone home in the 29th over.
