NEILON Joseph and Asanka Vithange claimed four wickets apiece as Division One leaders Wootton Bassett thumped hosts Bear Flat by 214 runs.

Jack Paish top scored for Bassett as they racked up an impressive total of 252-5 with the bat.

Bear Flat stood no chance when the visitors got their hands on the ball as Joseph (4-20) and Vithange (4-4) ripped through them for 38 in the 23rd over.

Urchfont climbed to second as they eked out a two-wicket win over Corsham 2nd.

Tom Abbot’s 83 formed the mainstay of Corsham’s 188 all out, with Toby Dorgan taking 4-31, before Urchfont got home in the 42nd over.

Swindon 2nd closed up behind third-placed Lacock as they defeated them by five wickets.

Adam Mitchell hit 75 and Chay Forrester added 43 as Lacock amassed 252-7. Daniel Harris led the charge with the ball, taking 4-40.

However, 61 from Liam Tucker and 58 from Sean Parker saw Swindon home.

Luke Bradley-Leach’s unbeaten 41 could not prevent Nationwide House from falling to a 40-run defeat at the hands of Beckington.

Nationwide’s Joe Perkins took 3-27 but Brad Aldous’ 66 helped Beckington post 189-8 and the hosts could only reach 149 all out in reply.

Division Two

A HAT-TRICK from Nick Gerrish helped to keep Winsley ahead of the pack as they demolished Swindon United Churches by eight wickets.

Gerrish returned figures of 7-8 from just five overs - including his treble - as Churches were blown away for just 70. He then scored an unbeaten 16 as the villagers got past the target with ease.

Warminster 2nd’s batsmen made hay in their meeting with Bradford on Avon, amassing 239-7.

Nick Hembury hit 86 off 57 balls and Akash Saraswat made an unbeaten 73 off 89 balls.

Despite knocks of 47 from Ian Pinchen and 41 each from Matthew Harrington and Simon Richards, Bradford were well short on 181-7.

Mike Spong hit an unbeaten 100 in vain as Biddestone 2nd claimed the spoils against Beehive (Southwick).

Spong’s knock helped his side to 213-6, but despite a dodgy start to the reply, skipper Aled Evans struck an unbeaten 63 and Harry Beazer 67 not out to guide Biddestone to success by five wickets.

A last-wicket stand of 70 from Andy Footner (65) and Pete Parks (11 not out) allowed Beanacre & Melksham to post a competitive 164 all out, having been 93-9 at one stage.

Potterne openers Paul Clark (23) and skipper Jordi Rose (46) put on 75 in nine overs in the reply before John Bramwell (23) and Sam Gaiger (56 not out) took it on and ensured victory with 21 overs to spare.

Wes Hartlief hit an unbeaten 65 to lead Avebury to a six-wicket success over Swindon NALGO.

Swindon were bowled out for 167 and Hartlief ensured Avebury made light work of their run chase.

Division Three

A BATTLING 44 from Swindon A’s Jason McGinley helped his side to a two-wicket win at Wootton Bassett 2nd to keep them second in the table behind Bath Hospitals.

Stef Tyrie top scored for Bassett as they posted 165-7, with Swindon’s Andy Mildenhall returning figures of 3-16.

McGinley led the Swindon reply and they were able to edge over the winning line with 13 balls to spare, finishing on 168-8.

Division Four

GOATACRE 2nds suffered a disappointing home defeat to All Cannings after getting themselves into strong positions in both innings.

A fine 65 from Mark Hunt helped Goatacre to 144-3 after 30 overs but they collapsed to 187 all out as Charlie Waylen (4-21) ripped through the middle and lower order.

Cannings were then struggling at 120-7 in reply but a rapid 53 from Ryan Simons helped them to a two-wicket win, with Gareth Robb finishing 64 not out.

Division Five

COMBE Down continued their unbeaten run with an eight-wicket victory at Biddestone 3rd.

Losing the toss, the hosts were put in on a damp track and struggled to 33-5 after controlled opening spells from Peter Lee-Wright (1-15) and Andy Hulbert (4-10).

The first bowling change brought no relief as Simon Elliman (4-19) decimated the lower order and Biddestone were reduced to 93 all out in the 39th over In better conditions, Combe Down made light work of chasing that total and reached a winning 94-2 in the 16th over, with Hulbert (48 not out) again to the fore.

Division Six

BRILLIANT bowling set Swindon B on their way to a four-wicket success at home to Potterne 4th.

John Harris led the attack with 3-23, while there were two wickets apiece for Charlie Chevis, Ricky Lawrence and Joseph Da Cunha as Potterne were restricted to 117.

Ian Penfold top scored in the reply with 48 as Swindon eased home, finishing on 120-6 with more than 10 overs to spare.

Division Eight CONNOR Thompson’s 73 led Highworth to a seven-wicket win at home to Swindon NALGO 2nd.

Chasing 176 to win, Mark Wilson also made 49 not out as Highworth got over the line in the 38th over of their reply. Matt Sweeney had earlier taken 4-22 as Swindon were bowled out for 175.
