WILTSHIRE’S wait for a first Unicorns Championship Western Division win of the season goes on after their defeat to Devon was confirmed earlier today.
After resuming on 40-3 on day three at Creedy Park in Sandford, the county side required 262 to seal victory but they were bowled out for a second time and left to reflect on a failed run-chase.
Number three Will Wade had eight runs to his name when play got back under way and the South Wilts man anchored Wiltshire’s efforts with an unbeaten knock of 83, with debutant Wade facing a whopping 190 balls.
But Jake Lintott (38) provided the only other real contribution with the bat as Devon’s Matthew Golding proved chief antagonist with the ball, ending the day with figures of 5-88.
David Cope (18), Tahir Afridi (17) and Jon Sore (16) all failed to put together significant totals as Golding mopped up, with Wiltshire dismissed for 231 early in the 76th over.
The county side are next in action when they host Wales at South Wilts, in Salisbury, on July 17-19.
