THE good news is I think my abdominal tear injury is all right.

I’ve managed to bowl 27 overs in our Specsavers County Championship match against Lancashire, which is a positive.

I didn’t really expect to bowl but I bowled in training the day before and I managed to get a few overs under my belt and it felt pretty good, which is good.

That’s a good positive for the rest of the season, hopefully.

It was a bit strange in my first few overs, I was a little bit nervous, which is natural when you get injured.

But it pulled up pretty well. I was a little bit sore the last couple of days but that’s just due to the workload and hopefully everything is good.

The England Test squad was being announced this morning and hopefully Vincey (Hampshire teammate and fellow Wiltshire man James Vince) is in it.

From my own experience of England T20 selection it’s pretty exciting.

You’re waiting for your phone to ring, whether it’s good or bad news.

It’s an exciting time. If you get the call, it’s an amazing feeling.

For myself, I’ve got four-day cricket for Hampshire and our one day cricket doesn’t start for a couple of weeks so I’ll be concentrating on that before thinking about anything else.

Meanwhile the ECB’s idea of a North v South three-match series in Abu Dhabi to give players the chance to compete for 2019 World Cup places is pretty good.

You are going to get domestic cricketers playing in different conditions abroad which is going to help and you are going to have 25/26 cricketers out there.

It’s a good little tournament and I think it will be exciting, whoever gets selected for it.

I think Test cricket in England is pretty strong.

You always get sell-out crowds and I think we’re one of those lucky countries where people want to come and watch English cricket, whether it’s home or away.

But you have always got to look to try and improve the game and have new ideas and that’s what they’re doing.

If it goes well, hopefully they can keep using it in years to come.
