POTTERNE skipper Neil Clark maybe facing another five weeks in the treatment room, but he is already looking at causing more than a few upsets in Premier One.

Having won Premier Two last season, The Grove outfit are gearing up for their first campaign in the top flight of the West of England Premier League.

However, despite finding themselves at the highest level they have played at, Clark has no fear.

“If you ask the chairman (Fred Kerley), then he’ll say the aim is to stay in the division,” said Clark.

“However, if you ask me, I’ll say that I want to win every game and win it. Realistically, I know that is tough, but that is my aim.”

Potterne have only drafted in one new player for the upcoming campaign, which begins with a visit from Bridgwater, with Hampshire youngster Tom Alsop returning to the club, while Sahan Wijerathne returns as the club’s overseas player.

“I was convinced last season that this side was good enough for Premier One,” Clark added.

“They won the league last season and they deserve this chance to play at Premier One.

“There are lots of things going on at the club this season and we can’t wait for Saturday.

“I’m still five weeks away – the rehab is going well, just slow.

“Tom will play for us when his Hampshire commitments allow and he is available this weekend, which is good.”

Meanwhile, Corsham face an early derby day to begin their season as they travel to local rivals Bath first up this weekend.

Bath are perennial challengers for the Premier One title but Ashur Morrison’s men finished just once place behind them in the table last season, finishing third and fourth respectively.
