BOX made a winning start in Division One of the Surridge Sport Wiltshire League as they clinched a seven-wicket weather-affected success over Hinton Charterhouse.

Set a revised target of 126 off 33 overs, with 12 overs lost to rain, Johnny Page (60 not out) and Richard Foley (38 not out) guided the villagers home after Hinton had reached 175-8 off 45 overs, Jordan Welsby taking 3-42.

Potterne 2nd were eight-wicket winners in another rain-affected encounter against Swindon United Churches, who reached 168-7, Danny Hunt top scoring with 73 not out and Milan Perara taking 3-34.

Chasing 94 off 25 overs, Andrew Woodward’s 63 not out took Potterne to their target.

Steve Silk hit 112 as Chippenham reached 251-8 in their 45 overs against Corsham 3rd in Division Four.

Chasing a reduced 142 off 25.2 overs, Liam Sumsion’s 41 wasn’t enough as Chippenham won by 46 runs.

All Cannings’ Matt Tilley and Jake Rogers each took three wickets to reduce Ramsbury to 99 all out before Garreth Robb’s unbeaten half-century carried Cannings to a five-wicket victory.

In Division Five, Combe Down secured a hard-fought victory over Biddestone Down’s Tom Hulbert (63) and Tim Sadgrove (64) ensured the hosts reached a respectable 208-4 off 45 overs.

Seeking a reduced 185 from 40 overs, Biddestone fell agonisingly short at 176-8, Sebastian Galardo with an unbeaten 26.
