WILTSHIRE’S latest Unicorns Championship Western Division clash away at Wales ended in a frustrating draw yesterday.

Having declared in their first innings at 100-6 - still 142 runs in arrears of Wales’ total - in an effort to force a result at Pontarddulais, Wiltshire did not bowl well enough in the second innings and 54 from Sean Griffin helped the home side to 191-5 before they too declared.

That set Michael Coles’ men a target of 334 to win in their second innings but the visitors never looked like chasing that down and were only on 194-7 by the time the match came to a close.

Skipper Coles top-scored with 45, while Ed Young, Ed Kilbee and the unbeaten Ashur Morrison all made starts, with Richard Edwards (5-49) leading Wales charge with the ball.

Wiltshire are currently fifth in the Western Division table with one win from their four matches so far and they return when they entertain Herefordshire at South Wilts starting on Sunday, August 2.
