WILTSHIRE surrendered a promising position on day one of their Unicorns Championship Western Division clash against Wales as the bowlers dominated at Pontarddulais.

The visitors dismissed Wales for 242 inside 76 overs on day one but, by stumps, had succumbed to 100-6 themselves.

Home wicketkeeper Gareth Ansell led the home charge, scoring 81 in 104 balls, while Owen Morgan added 47, but they received precious little support.

Potterne's Jake Roberts (3-28) and Corsham's Joe King (3-57) led the visitors' attack, while there were also a couple of wickets for Tahir Afridi.

The reply saw wickets lost steadily as Harry Powell took 2-25 for the home side, Ed Young hitting 34 and Wiltshire skipper Mike Coles remaining unbeaten on 39 at the close.
