GLOS/WILTS 2nd XI Division leaders Biddestone had their wings clipped at rivals Chippenham last weekend but remain a point-clear after second-placed Rockhampton faltered at Marlborough.

Matt Unwin hit 71 as Biddestone posted 231-7 at Hardenhuish Park but openers Geoff Prudhoe (80) and Steve Silk (60) helped drive Chippenham to 232-5 early in their final over.

Thankfully for beaten Biddestone, Marlborough bested their top-of-the-table rivals by 51 runs, Mike Bush top-scoring with an unbeaten 44 as the hosts posted 193-8 before tearing through the Rockhampton order and skittling their opponents for 142 in the 43rd over.

In Premier One, half-centuries from Tom Abbott (55) and Simon Crampton (54*) helped Corsham to a narrow win at Shapwick & Polden.

The Station Road side posted 208-6 before Craig Chaplin (4-35) sufficiently turned the screw, with the hosts restricted to 193-9.

Burbage & Easton Royal kept their Wiltshire Division title challenge on track with a four-wicket win at Purton.

Ollie Lavis took 3-12 as the home side were restricted to 185-9 before Chris Simmons spearheaded Burbage’s run-chase, hitting 54 as they stormed to 187-6 in less than 25 overs.

James Dunford hit 76 as Devizes thrashed Trowbridge by 116 runs, with the hosts dismissed for 227 Paul Sullivan and Mark Webb then took four wickets apiece to skittle Trowbridge for a lowly 111.
