DENSON Narayan was Chippenham’s six-shooter as they romped to a comfortable win at home to local rivals Swindon last weekend.

Lee Ward’s side lost the toss and were put in to bat by their visitors but they soon found their range with the bat, Arran Merryweather top-scoring with a fine knock of 74.

Darryl Losper weighed in with 59 whilst Tom Young made 31 as Chippenham posted 248-5 at Hardenhhuish Park, Swindon’s Scott Edmed taking three wickets.

When the visitors took the crease, Ward’s men put them in a stranglehold, with the Chippenham captain accounting for Swindon’s two openers for 44 runs.

Jon Sore hit 43 for the away side but their run chase never really got off the ground as Narayan came to the fore.

Alex Kill, Dean Williamson, Will Nichols, Daniel Harris, Tom Codling and Michael Wilson were all accounted for as the Chippenham man tore through the Swindon order on his way to recording figures of 6-18.

The visitors were dismissed for 129 in just over 34 overs.

Elsewhere, Biddestone held their nerve to claim a narrow eight-run victory at Frenchay.

Batting first, Andy Flynn’s side got off a tricky start as their first three batsmen were all dismissed for ducks but Dwaine Perry steadied the ship with a knock of 59.

Frenchay’s Muhammad Ahmed and Ian McCormack both claimed three wickets apiece as Biddestone were skittled for 170 early in the 42nd over.

Flynn’s men proved just as deadly with the ball and had the hosts in trouble at 51-6.

Omar Randhawa top-scored for Frenchay with 58 but Naeem Khan took 4-33 whilst Subash Theiventhirarajah claimed 3-33 as Biddestone turned the screw.

Victory was sealed as the home side were dismissed for 162 with around two-and-a-half overs to go.

Chippenham travel to third-placed Gloucester City Winget next weekend whilst Biddestone, who are second-from-bottom in the Glos/Wilts Division table, host basement boys Apperley.
