CORSHAM cricketer Steve Bullen got his chance to test his wits against the 2011 county champions Lancashire this week.
The 22-year-old was part of the Leeds/Bradford MCCU side that played the Red Rose outfit at Old Trafford as the new season gets into full swing.
Bullen, who made his first class debut the previous week against the reigning four-day kings Yorkshire, struck a patient 97 for the students off 174 balls striking 14 fours before he was caught behind off the bowling of England spinner Simon Kerrigan behind.
The three-day match had seen earlier Lancashire bowled out for 482 in their first innings before the Leeds/Bradford replied with a 278 all out with Bullen sharing a second-wicket stand of 98 with Will Root, the younger brother of England batsman Joe.
