WILTSHIRE retained the Marlborough Cup on Sunday when they beat Berkshire in a close game at North Maidenhead CC by 11 runs.

Wiltshire, captained by Ed Young in the absence of the injured Michael Cole,s were put in to bat by Berkshire and recovered from the loss of Tom Morton to the first ball of the match to score 213 all out in the 48th of their 50 overs.

Uzi Qureshi scored (71), Neil Clark (32) and Ashur Morrison 33 all contributed whilst, for Berkshire, Tom Nugent took 3 for 34, Waqas Hussain 3 for 46 and Chris Peploe 3 for 23.

In reply, Berkshire were all out for 202 in the 46th over.

Berkshire were well placed at 175 for 5 wickets but lost their last 5 wickets for 27 runs, James Morris scored 60 and W Hussain 37.

For Wiltshire, Tom Foley took 3 for 55, Jake Roberts 2 for 25, Ashur Morrison 2 for 50 and Henry Langford 2 for 12.

Wiltshire start their competitive season next Sunday with a group match in the Unicorns Knockout Trophy against Wales at Newport C  starting at 11.00am.

With fitness doubts over Michael Coles and Tahir Afridi, they have named a squad of 14 for this match.
