MARLBOROUGH have appointed Tom Jacques as their new captain for the upcoming season.

Last season, Jacques made 18 appearances for the Savernake Forest outfit, who ply their trade in the Wiltshire Division of the West of England Premier League, and he replaces Tom Norris, who guided Marlborough to a respectable fourth-placed finish last summer.

Positive right-hand batsman and off-spin bowler Jacques joined Marlborough from Lancashire side Shireshead and Forton.

He said: “I think the steps that the club has taken over the winter, with the appointment of Brad Frost on the coaching and playing side and Tony Dickinson’s coaching support, puts us in a much stronger position for this season and I see no reason why we can’t improve on last year and in fact go all the way to the title.”

Marlborough have a new-look coaching set-up, with New Zealander Brad Frost working alongside Tony Dickinson.

Medium-fast right-arm seamer and middle-order batsman Frost will finally take to the field as after the club were unable to register him last season due to the signing of Dylan Bennie whilst Dickinson returns to Savernake from Lechlade.
