GRAHAM Mansell played a starring role with the ball as All Cannings dented the promotion hopes of Swindon United Churches and took themselves further away from the bottom of the table with a 51-run win in Division Two.

On a day which saw the vast majority of the Wiltshire League programme wiped out, Mansell’s 5-5 in just 4.1 overs wrapped up victory for the visitors in a rain-affected encounter.

Cannings had reached 202-9 in their 45 overs, Richard Mansell scoring 63, Andy Legg 36 and Matt Tilley 21.

Charlie Dabbs took 5-44 in seven overs for Churches, Jimmy Mann claiming 3-31 and Rich Martin 1-27.

Churches target was reduced to 131 from 29 overs by the weather, but Mansell ensured they finished well adrift on 79 all out in 24.1 overs.

Mann and Keith Coatsworth both scored 18 for the home side.

Leaders Ramsbury reached 146 all out in their 45 overs before the weather forced the abandonment of their contest with Buscot Park, Dave Smith scoring an unbeaten 66.

In the only match to survive in Division Six, Swindon NALGO 2nd maintained their interest in the promotion race by edging their Collingbourne counterparts by four runs.

NALGO scored 193-6 from 45 overs, Valentine Yohans scoring an unbeaten 52 and Greg Griffith not out on 40.

Bhaskar Ganduri then took 6-32 in 9.2 overs to end Collingbourne’s innings just shy on 189.

Charlie Knight scored 58 and Craig Watts 49.

Division Seven leaders Marlborough 3rd missed out on the chance to extend their lead as their meeting with Bathford 2nd was abandoned.

Marlborough had reached 156-5 from 41 overs, Andy Crabbe unbeaten on 78 and Ed Puddick scoring 45 when the elements forced a halt.

Beehive (Southwick) 2nd were 16-run winners over their Buscot Park counterparts after reaching 202 all out in 45 overs.

Adrian Day led the way with 69, Nigel Reeves adding an unbeaten 31, while Gary Thompson took 3-63, Paul Farmer 2-36 and Nick Edgington 2-2 in just five balls.

Set a reduced 176 off 39 overs to win, Buscot ended up on 159 all out, Andy Morbey with 60 and Farmer 48, but Reeves’ 4-14 off three overs and 2-26 from James Dennison ended their hopes.

Wanborough 2nd (94-6) are up to second place after a four-wicket success over Highworth, who were dismissed for 93.
