THERE were title successes for three of the county’s second teams on the final day of the season on Saturday.
Corsham 2nd are celebrating the Premier One 2nd XI title after a five-wicket victory at Frocester 2nd.
The hosts were all out for 206 after batting first, with Adam Mitchell (3-22) and Pete Turner (3-53) doing the damage.
Turner then settled matters with the bat, smacking an unbeaten 102 as the visitors reached 209-5 in the 42nd over.
Goatacre 2nd are champions of the Glos/Wilts 2nd XI Division after thrashing Potterne 2nd by 94 runs.
The title-winners posted 312-8 before skittling Potterne for 218.
Tom Palmer (86*) and Duncan Lorrain (76*) helped Marlborough 2nd triumph in their Wiltshire Division 2nd XI title showdown against Lechlade.
- CORSHAM’S first team came agonisingly close to pulling off an upset at home to second-placed Frocester in their final game of the season last weekend.
Corsham won the toss and put the visitors in to bat first, with Mike Herdman hitting 78 as Frocester posted 208-9.
Toby Davies made 68, but Herdman proved decisive with the ball, taking five wickets as Corsham were out for 204 in the penultimate over.
D’Souza’s men finished eighth in Premier One.
