THE elements denied Biddestone the chance the advantage in the Glos/Wilts Division title battle as their clash with Rockhampton last weekend was abandoned.

Niel Bredenkamp’s side are locked on 253 points alongside Lechlade at the top of the table, with only trips to Chipping Sodbury and local rivals Chippenham remaining for the Wiltshire villagers this season.

Skipper Bredenkamp hit 34 for his side against Rockhampton while Andrew Lawton and Tim Knight weighed in with 24 and 19 respectively before the wet weather put paid to proceedings after 34 overs, with Biddestone standing on 133-6.

Chippenham also saw their clash with Biddestone’s title rivals Lechlade abandoned.

Lee Ward’s men were put in to bat first and lost their first four wickets for just 13 runs before Billy Cookson steadied the ship with a knock of 65.

Trevor Lloyd (33*) and Richard Bates (24*) were unbeaten as Chippenham posted 161-8 from a rain-reduced 46 overs.

Michael Torr took two early Lechlade wickets but the game was brought to an end midway through the seventh over.

Potterne skipper Neil Clark hit 99 from 52 balls as his side were in control against Westbury before their match was rained off.

Chris Penhaligon smacked 68 whilst Jake Roberts made an unbeaten 50 from just 16 deliveries, with the hosts declaring after reaching a whopping 225-2 from just over 18 overs.

However, Potterne were denied a thumping victory as the match was abandoned in the tenth over of Westbury’s innings.

Ashur Morrison weighed in with 79 from 56 balls for Corsham but Robin D’Souza’s side saw their Premier One trip to Ilminster fall foul of the wet weather.

Skipper D’Souza also hit 69 from 46 deliveries to put his side in control, with Corsham posting 239-5 from a rain-reduced 30 overs before the match was called off.

In the Wiltshire Division, second-placed Burbage & Easton Royal’s clash with Calne failed to reach its conclusion.

Tom Richards hit 30 for visitors Calne while Burbage skipper Tom Wallbridge took three wickets.

But the match was abandoned after 23 overs of play, with Dan Knight’s side on 100-4.

Marlborough captain Tom Norris hit an unbeaten 50 for his side against Nationwide House, with Ben Head also making 33, but proceedings were brought to a premature end as the hosts sat on 114-1 midway through the 25th over.

Devizes were staring down the barrel at home to league leaders Swindon, with the visitors’ Scott Edmed (4-18) and Ardil Domingo (3-18) doing the damage as Joe Wookey’s side were skittled for 130 in 32 overs.

Swindon reached 83 without loss but Joe Wookey’s side were saved as the wet weather won out.

Great Bedwyn reached 97-3 as their trip to Winsley was called off after 29 overs while Marshfield were all out for 141 at Trowbridge before the elements came to the rescue for Dan Watson’s men.
