WILTSHIRE faced an uphill task to salvage a draw from their final Minor Counties Championship Western Division clash of the season as hosts Herefordshire moved into a strong position on day two at Brockhampton yesterday.

The hosts started the day at 54-2, replying to the home side's 397 all out, but made a solid enough start as opener Ed Kilbee (52) and skipper Joe Breet (34) put on 68 for the third wicket.

Both departed in quick succession but 75 from Michael Coles helped to push the score over the 200 mark, Tahir Afridi adding 39 and wicketkeeper Adam Miles 22.

Wiltshire though were all out for 279, six and a half overs shy of their full allocation of 90 and were then made to suffer in the field as Herefordshire piled on the runs.

Opener Nitesh Patel and Bradley Wadlan were unbeaten on 106 and 119 respectively as the home side reached 268-1 at the close - a lead of 397 heading into the final day today.
