LEADERS Purton secured victory in the nick of time over Hinton Charterhouse on Saturday, surpassing their rain-reduced target just two minutes before the heavens opened and the game was brought to an end.

Having restricted their guests to just 102, Tom Bowler and Akki Gomel sharing seven wickets, in their Division One clash, Purton managed to chase down the 61 runs they needed to win on net run rate in a little over seven overs, prior to the elements intervening.

Purton are 39 points clear of second-placed Urchfont, who could yet be overhauled by Wootton Bassett, who defeated Swindon Nalgo.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Smith, promoted to cover for the absent Jack Twine, scored 54 as the hosts posted 181 before restricting their guests to 158 all out inside 39 overs, as Ian Lancaster took 4-44.

Collingbourne maintained their promotion hopes in Division Two as they defeated Warminster 3rd by 13 runs.

Owen Sheppard scored 75 in 216-7 from 45 overs and Warminster came up short on 203 all out.

Westinghouse gave themselves a boost at the foot of the table with victory over Wroughton Wranglers.

Wroughton made 143 all out, Craig Taylor hitting 39 and Andy Day taking 3-44 and Nathan Tingley 3-1.

Set a reduced target of 80 from 25 overs, Westinghouse got home for the loss of four wickets, Chris Grace scoring an unbeaten 35.

Wanborough got the better of their basement battle in Division Four, bowling fellow strugglers Seagry for 93.

Paul Lewis made 33 for Seagry, but Paul Penfold (36) helped Wanborough knock off the runs, Alan Norman taking 2-25 Division Four leaders Wootton Bassett 2nd completed victory over bottom side Trowbridge A, bowling them out for just 49 in 20.3 overs.

Mark Lazenby (4-34) and Paul Curtis (4-15) did the damage and Bassett secured the points inside 11 overs.

Potterne 3rd strengthened their grip on second spot with a 21-run victory over Malmesbury 2nd.

Potterne’s 187-9 was built around an innings of 52 from Stu Raddon, Ed Shellard taking 4-58. Set a revised target of 154 from 37 overs, Malmesbury ended on 132-9.

Corsham 4th dented the promotion hopes of Beanacre & Melksham 2nd with a six-wicket success.

Neville Dennett took 4-23 from 12 overs as Beanacre were all out for 142 and James Walsh hit 45 as Corsham chased down a revised 133.

In Division Six, Collingbourne 2nd edged out Biddestone 4th by five runs after amassing 186-8.

Box 2nd’s bowlers ran riot as they kept pace with leaders Heytesbury & Sutton Veny 2nd by bowling out Buscot Park 2nd for just 20.

Steve Hall scored 120 and Kevin Dolman 30 in Box’s 238, Dolman taking 6-8 and Gavin Richardson 2-11 as Buscot were out inside 16 overs.

Heytesbury enjoyed a 94-run triumph over Westbury 3rd. Gavin Pratt (75), Rob Robson (26) and Andy Frost (25) scored in Heytesbury’s 190-9, Sam McQueen taking 4-40, Simon Higgins 3-33 and Pete Seviour 2-17.

James Hudson hit 26 in a reply that ended at 96 all out, Charles Budgett taking 4-23 and Robson 2-8.

Leaders Goatacre 4th had an eight-wicket success over nearest Division Eight challengers Wanborough 2nd.

Adrian Riley took 4-27 for Goatacre as Wanborough were all out for 122. Dave Horton (34*) and Ben Langridge (23*) helped Goatacre past a revised target of 68.
