Rangers keep the pressure on at the top

PREMIER DIVISION: Leaders Biddestone Social were without a game and with second placed Corsham Centre A in Wiltshire Sunday Cup action, Westbury Rangers A kept the pressure on both teams with a comfortable victory over Semington Rovers.

Despite taking an early through Dave Castle, who finished well at the far post following a Simon Chown cross, Semington crashed to a 7-1 defeat.

Striker, Marc Lanfear had the perfect build up to this Sunday's presstoprint sponsored Knockout cup final against Crown Cosmos with a four timer that took his tally for the season to 23, Nathan Hallett, Pete Ayton and Tim Coombes all scored once apiece as Rangers extended their winning run to five matches that keeps their slim hopes of achieving a league and cup double alive.

The battle for the winners crown is becoming very exciting, however the fight to avoid relegation is just as intriguing especially as both North Star A and Bradford News who were in the drop zone prior to kick off both recorded excellent victories to keep their hopes of beating the drop very much alive. North Star recovered from their 6-3 defeat against Box Rovers in midweek to beat FC Colerne 2-0 who have now gone four matches without scoring a goal. After a goalless first half that had seen Colerne hit the bar the Star took the lead through Mark Sharratt and they made the game and the points safe when Tommy Ludford fired home number two. In midweek Pete Thornton, Nick Fielding and Ludford scored for the Star, but goal from Adam Taylor and Tom Smith who both scored doubles and singles from Jason Walsh and Ben Gogswell had given Box their win.

After their Thursday night success over North Star, Box Rovers visited Bradford News bidding to claim a seventh straight victory over their hosts but the newsmen who hadn't been able to hit the target in recent games made a few positional chances which had the desired effect as Mark Hurkett's side ended a six match losing run with a surprised but thoroughly deserved 4-1 success that really should have been more. Bradford scored after 10 minutes when Jamie Davies pounced on a rebound after Joe Chettleburgh saw his initial shot well saved by Rovers keeper Luke McFarlane, but the shot stopper was unable to keep out Davies effort. Chettleburgh went close to doubling Bradford's lead before he broke clear of his markers and netted his first goal for the club to make it 2-0. Bradford missed a few more opportunities to increase their lead with a combination of poor finishing and good keeping from McFarlane, but he was unable to prevent from Danny Hurkett making it 3-1 in the 44th minute when he drilled home a beauty at the far post. Rovers went up field from the restart and cut the gap when Adam Taylor's great finish saw Rovers trail 3-1 at the break. Bradford had to defend well in the second half as Rovers searched for a way back into the game and they finally put the match to bed 12 minutes from time when Clive Roddy set up Tom Downing who finished off well to make the final scoreline 4-1 to the hosts.

Miller Sports and Dog & Fox Ashley who both had midweek wins against respective opponents Maud Heath Sports and FC Colerne met at the Beeches, Shaw and it was no surprise that the match ended two apiece. Steve Wicking put the Dog ahead after 10 minutes only for Ashley Groves to restore parity before the interval. Steve Roddy regain the lead for the Dog on 55 minutes but once against Miller hit back to square things up at Nick Ridout grabbed their equaliser. Roddy and Wickings were also on target for the Dog & Fox against Colerne, Roddy scored a three timer and Wickings completed the quartet. Two goals from Ben Grinham and one from James Eatough gave Miller their 3-2 win over Maud Heath who replied via goals from Darren Holcombe and Graham Dean.

On a busy Thursday night of fixtures for teams from top flight the only match which was called off, was the heavyweight battle in the Premier Division between leaders Biddestone Social and defending champions Corsham Centre A. With third placed Westbury Rangers A devoid of a midweek match, Box Rovers moved level on points with Rangers after their 6-3 home success over North Star A that leaves the losers well and truly rooted to the bottom of the pile and likely favourites for relegation. Rovers led 2-1 at the interval with Tommy Ludford scoring his first of the season for the Star. Pete Thornton and Nick Fielding who scored his first goal since May 2005 added further goals for the Calne based side in the second period but they weren't enough to stop them from losing for a 13th time this term as Adam Taylor and Tom Smith both scored doubles and Jason Walsh and Ben Cogswell scored singles to make up Rover's half dozen.

Dog & Fox Ashley might have started their match away at FC Colerne in sunshine, but the game almost never finished as driving rain and hail forced referee Adie Hunt to blow up a little early with the Dog & Fox leading 4-0 otherwise the game might have been abandoned and it has to be said that both sets of players were more than happy to hear the sound of the whistle even if it was a little premature. For the Dog & Fox it was their first victory in six outings and their first clean sheet since late September when they beat Maud Heath Sports 3-0, for Colerne it was their fourth straight loss. Steve Roddy set the Dog on their way when his shot took a slight deflection before finding the target. Steve Wickings gave the Dog a 2-0 interval lead when he drilled home a beauty from 18 yards into the bottom left had corner of the net. Midway through the second half Roddy made it 3-0, when after a good move from a corner he rifled home another stunner from 18 yards. Roddy scored his third and the Dog's fourth, five minutes from time and surprisingly it is only the second hat trick the prolific striker has notched this season.

Maud Heath Sports are still under the threat of relegation, but if they learn to hold onto a lead they may yet pull clear of the drop zone, Maud Heath led Miller Sports 1-0 and they drew two each at one stage before Miller who returned to form after their 5-1 weekend defeat against Corsham Centre bounced back to claim victory by virtue of a 3-2 win. Darren Holcombe's opener for Maud Heath was cancelled out by Ben Grinham whose third goal of the season squared things up. James Eatough gave Miller the lead only for Graham Dean to fire Maud Heath level. Grinham's second of the game sealed Miller's fifth win in seven games, but if it wasn't for the honesty of Maud Heath's linesman and manager Andy Townsend the game might have ended in a draw as Townsend signaled that the ball had cross the line for Miller's second goal when all those around him was unsure to what had happened.

DIVISION ONE There were only two fixtures in Division One and both of the outcomes were not was as expected as AFC Calne brought an end to The Ship's 16 match unbeaten run and Atworth United shocked third placed Rowde FC. The Ship had beaten Rowde on Thursday night 2-0 thanks to goals from Lee Hayward and Tom Bonsor and they travelled to Avebury confident that they would keep their hopes of the perfect season alive especially as they had beaten their hosts 4-0 in the reverse fixture. Calne who were missing the injured duo of Craig and Dean Fry and Simon Dance who had stropped off after their midweek loss against Foresters Arms had mixed feelings about the outcome of the match, but they showed great team spirit and kept things together as they claim a remarkable 3-2 victory.

Calne started the match really well and had the Ship on the back foot for most of the first half. On the half hour mark keeper Aaron Ward launched a long ball up field to Mark Dolman who knocked the ball on to Aaron Clegg whose sweet left footed strike saw the ball nestle in the bottom left hand corner of the visitors net. The Ship came fighting back and were too quick for Richard Sheffield who brought Dave Percival in the area, up stepped the Ship's keeper Craig Brown to face Aaron Ward and although Ward guessed the right way the ball went in off the right hand post making the score 1-1 at half time. The second half started well with end to end football and but it was the Ship who scored next, Ward managed to get his fingertips to a Dave Percival shot but the ball still went in to give the Ship a 2-1 lead. Calne raised their game and it wasn't long before they were back on level terms, Mark Dolman's quickly taken free kick found James Yates who fired home his first goal of the season. Calne's keeper Aaron Ward made several good stops to keep his team in the game and it looked like the points would be shared, but Calne sensed that they could be the team to stop the Ship's winning run as the visitors were now too intent on bickering amongst themselves than playing football. From out of nowhere Calne played a long ball over the top to substitute Jeremy Spruce who in turn found Mark Dolman who after being involved in the other two goals planted the ball in the net five minutes from time for what proved to be the winner. For Calne it was one of their best performances for a very long time as all the players were talking to each other throughout the game and battling hard for their famous win. Referee Kevin Amor had a good game in the middle. THe Match was also the perfect repost for Calne after their Thursday night defeat against Foresters Arms that saw them lose 2-0, Chris Turk and Luke Turvey scoring for the Foresters.

Rowde's promotion hopes took a knock when Atworth United came away from Sands Lane with a shock 3-2 victory. Rowde took the lead after 20 minutes when Ray King ghosted in at the far post to make it 1-0. Atworth played some attractive football and deservedly equalised 10 minutes later when Brian Wiltshire set off on a mazy run and beat three Rowde players and thumped home a 25 yard drive into the bottom corner to make it one each. Things got better for Atworth just before the break when the referee gave them a debatable penalty when Sean Fordham fell under an innocuous challenge and the same player got up to slam in the resultant penalty giving keeper Ashley Robinson no chance. Atworth's back three of Phil Strange Glenn Young and Lawrence Brill were kept busy by the lively Marcus Wallen and Jamie Mullings but managed to hold out. The game was settled after 70 minutes when Atworth's Ian Jeffery took a quick free kick which he curled into the corner past an unsighted Robinson to put the visiting side 3-1 up and they nearly went further ahead when Sean Kerslake just failed to turn in a cross from Steve Lye. Rowde's Jamie Selby was unlucky when his stunning free kick cannoned off the bar with 10 minutes left and Ray King missed another opportunity. Jamie Mullings pulled a goal back for Rowde on 88 minutes but Atworth saw out a nervous last few minutes as Rowde searched for an equaliser to keep their hopes of gaining second spot alive.

After three postponements, it was fourth time lucky as the long awaited showdown between Division one leaders The Ship FC and promotion hopefuls Rowde was at last played. The first of two meetings between the sides took place at Rowde's own patch in Sands Lane and Midweek contest which was tipped to be a thriller didn't fail to disappoint as both teams gave their all before the Ship emerged 2-0 victors, but Rowde will think that had they taken their chances then they could have ended their visitors winning run which after the win stands at 16 games at it is looking unlikely that anyone will able to sink them this term as they seek the perfect record of which they need another six wins to reach their target of 22 straight victories. Both teams were at full strength for the gladiatorial encounter, but it was the Ship defence and goalkeeper Craig Brown in particular who stood up to every thing Rowde had to offer. A goal in each half gave the Ship the points, the first coming from Lee Hayward who tapped home a Toby Dawson cross and the second arrived late on courtesy of Tom Bonsor who round the Rowde keeper to finish with aplomb as he wrapped up another two points for the leaders with his 12th goal of the campaign.

Coyote manager, Chris Carr rested several of his potential starting team in preparation of their WG Parr Trophy final against Potterne on Sunday when they entertained a patched up British Lion side licking their wounds from Sunday's defeat against the same side. Both teams could have done without the midweek game, and come the final whistle may well have wished that it hadn't been as it finished in a goalless draw. The Lion started well and after only two minutes Coyote centre half Richard Gray turned Luke Hunneyball's cross onto his own post. The Lion should have taken the lead on six minutes. Darren Brown's through ball was deftly flicked on by Nick Mooney and Nathan West volleyed over from 20-yards without realising he had time to steady himself. Despite being on the back foot for most of the first twenty minutes, Coyote came back into the game strongly as the half progressed. On 22 minutes, Tom Berrington rattled a 20-yard drive that Mark Sinclair gathered at the second attempt. Four minutes later, Ross Pike headed over Nathan Flower's corner from close range. Flower's deliveries from set pieces posed a constant threat and seven minutes before the break his corner was hit first time by Sam McQueen but went wide. Two minutes later Gray hit another Flower corner and Sinclair somehow managed to get the ball over his crossbar.

Going into the second half, both sides made substitutions with Chris Carr bringing some of his big guns into play and Phil Oliver using some of his walking wounded. On 63 minutes, a throw from Lion's Tom Evans was intercepted by Berrington and hit the side netting with Sinclair desperately closing the angle. Although the Lion had a little spell of possession, their chances were few and far between and Coyote looked the more dangerous going forward. The Lion's cause was further hampered on 75 minutes when substitute Andrew Webster and Tom Evans went off within a matter of minutes leaving the Lion effectively playing with nine men. Although Evans returned he was a virtual spectator as Coyote laid siege to the Lion goal. McQueen headed Berrington's free kick over with ten minutes left and with five minutes to go, Dan Shanley wasted a good delivery from Pike. However, the Lion defence of Dave Crawford, Andy Stonestreet and Mikey O'Donnell held firm and the game ended in stalemate Foresters Arms moved up into fourth spot after they saw of a brave challenge from AFC Calne at Awdry Avenue, Melksham. Foresters who beat Calne 3-1 earlier the season completed a league double over their opponents by virtue of two-second half goals which earned them a 2-0 triumph and extended their unbeaten run to four games. Calne lost two of their influential players to injury in the first half but managed to hold their hosts who were unable to take any of their chance. Calne who lost Craig Fry with a groin strain and Dean Fry who suffered a suspected chipped bone in his foot battled on bravely and had chances of their own before and after the break to take the lead before Chris Turk scored the opener on 60 minutes with a brilliant diving header that the Calne keeper Aaron Ward got a hand to be could only help it into the net. Foresters second followed 10 minutes later when the ball fell to the feet of Luke Turvey 18 yards out who took one touch before firing the ball beyond a despairing Ward to make it 2-0. Foresters could have added to their tally had it not been for keeper Ward who produced fine save to deny both Turk and Leigh Rowles-Hitchcock.

DIVISION TWO Having beaten Hullavington 4-3 in a Thursday night thriller when goals from Charlie Powell, Sam Jordan, Mark Robinson and Ross Hatter earned FC Bradford a remarkable victory that saw them hit back from 3-1 down after Ed Wilkins (two) and Ben Wright had scored for the villagers Pete Colliers side were hopeful that their visit to The Conigre Melksham to face leaders Cooper Avon might just result in the same outcome but it wasn't to be as a magnificent second 45 minutes from the tyremen saw they coast to a 3-0 win that saw them increase their unbeaten run to16 matches. Cooper Avon were well aware of the threat posed by FC Bradford but after a goalless first half that saw Mark Robinson miss a sitter for the visitors Cooper's class shone through and they played Bradford of the park and should have had more than the three goals that they scored. Simon Gillatt opened the scoring for Cooper and Graham Griffiths added number two before Dave Macey sealed the win with only his third goal of the season.

Devizes based Crown Cosmos stayed in touching distance of the leaders courtesy of their 7-3 victory away at Pig & Whistle United. Wayne Painter scored twice for United and Nathan Mantle once but their goals counted for nothing at next weekend's Knockout Cup finalists got a few cobwebs out of their system prior to their game with top flight side Westbury Rangers A. Cosmos showed that they have players all over the pitch who can score goals for them, Stuart Skinner might have netted a brace but the other five were divided between Jamie Gale, Julian Alexander, Nick Taylor, Eliot Williams and player/manager Will Kibby who made up the seven with his first goal since the opening day of the season when he scored in his teams 7-0 win over Audley FC.

White Hart Combe hit the goal trail twice in four days when they followed up their 8-0 victory over The Horse & Groom for Thursday night with a 7-2 win away at Sutton Benger. James Stone and Lee Fernandez both hit trebles against Horse and Groom with Ben Munns and Luke Hodder adding singles. All four players were on target again at the weekend as they breezed past Benger who scored both the opening and final goal of the game which were both scored by Chris Miles but in-between goals from Lee Fernandez that drew Combe level, Ben Munns, James Stone who scored goals three and four, Luke Hodder and another from Fernandez and Stone that saw him complete his second hat tick in four days made up the seven.

Horse & Groom traveled to Goatacre hoping to bounce back from their 7-2 loss against White Hart Combe but they found their hosts Bremhill View Social Club in goal scoring form as the hosts walloped their guests 13-2. Mark Smith scored the first two goals for the hosts and Chris Long scored from the penalty spot to make it 3-0. Mark Smith completed his hat trick in the 20th minute with goal number four before James Sweetman pulled a goal back for the Horse & Groom. Steve Allsion scored before the interval to give Bremhill a 5-1 lead before the floodgates opened up in the second period. Dale Smith netted number six. Allison scored his second of the game prior to Terry Cox scoring his first. Mark Smith took his tally for the game to four and Allison completed his hat trick prior to Cox and Smith who was now on five for the match made it 12-1. Darren Clements scored a late consolation for the visitors ahead of Cox wrapping up the third hat tric kof the morning with Bremhill's 13th goal with was defiantly unlucky for the Horse & Groom.

Despite having five goalkeepers signed on Hullavington thought that they would be forced to use James Nation as their makeshift number one for their trip to FC Bradford on Thursday night in what was their first game in over a month, but the villagers who were bidding to set a new club record of eight successive victories were saved at the eleventh hour by the arrival Jack Ward, but they may have wished that they had used Nation as their shot stopper as Ward was guilty of a howler that gifted Bradford their second which allowed them back into the game as they came from 3-1 down to win a thriller 4-3 and deny the visitors to Poulton their record breaking win. Hullavington took the lead through Ben Wright who scored from 18 yards following a well-worked corner and they held their advantage for the rest of the first period. A brilliant solo effort from Charlie Powell restored parity for FC Bradford who then fell behind to a cheeky effort from Hullavington top scorer Ed Wilkins who flicked the ball up before heading home to give the villagers a 2-1 lead. Wilkins drilled home his second of the game after being set up by Liam Bailey and his 32nd of the campaign to increase his teams lead and put them on course for victory, but the game turned shortly after when Sam Jordan slid the ball between keeper Ward's legs to bring Bradford back into the game. Now with the bit between their teeth Bradford went at Hullavington and Mark Robinson squared things up with a thumping shot from the edge of the area to make it three apiece. Bradford's manager Pete Collier made one last throw of the dice as he threw on substitute Ross Hatter and his gamble was rewarded when Hatter popped with the winner to earn Bradford their remarkable victory.

Having fought a goalless draw last Sunday, promotion candidates White Hart Combe and basement side The Horse & Groom met in the return match at Stanley Park, Chippenham with this meeting going to plan as Combe hit eight unanswered goals. James Stone was first to find the net followed by Luke Hodder, Lee Fernandez made it 3-0 before Stone scored his second of the evening to give Combe a 4-0 half time lead. The goals continued in the second half with another from Fernandez who lobbed the Horse & Groom keeper from the half way line. James Stone completed his hat trick with goal number six, Fernandez followed Stone's three timer with the second treble of the game when he made it 7-0 and the scoring was completed by Ben Munns. Combe's victory means that they move up into second place behind Crown Cosmos and long time leaders Cooper Avon.

DIVISION THREE Third division leaders Biddestone White Horse don't seem to want to win the title after their third successive draw has seen the chasing pack move within just two points of the long time leaders who now look likely to lose the number one spot over the next few weeks as bothy Pheasant FC and AFC Bell look to make the most of the three games in hand that they have on Matt Unwin's side. After two goalless draw's Biddestone traveled to the Cement Works, Westbury for the second time in as many weeks, and just like likes which match their against White Horse the battle against the Cement boys ended in stalemate, however they did manage to score a goal this weekend. Wayne Bristow gave Blue Circle a first half lead which was wiped out when Scott Fleming earned Biddestone their points with a second half equaliser.

AFC Bell who beat Westbury Rangers B 5-0 on Thursday night were in the goals again as they beat Bromham (Sunday) 10-2 much to the surprise of all involved. Gareth Evans (two), Craig Townsend, Nathan Moffat and Jonathan Couch shared the Bell goals in the win over Westbury and all four players were in form again in the win over Bromham. Jonathan Couch, Nathan Moffatt, Gareth Veitch,Craig Townsend and a double from Gareth Evans helped Bell t oa 6-1 lead over Bromham at the break with Rikki Gullis scoring for Bromham. Evans completed his hat trick with a second half penalty before scoring a fourth after Couch had scored a second and substitute Dave Young had scored from the penalty spot. Jim Sandiford scored Bromham's second with a 25-yard thunderbolt. Bell's player/manager and top scorer Townsend suffered a foot injury that might keep him out for the rest of the season and Gareth Evans injured a shoulder that might also see him sidelined for a while and with so many import games coming up Bell can't afford to be without the services of either player.

When Pheasant FC visited the Crown FC little over a month ago, Mark Admason's side stunned the then leaders by claiming a 3-2 victory since then Pheasant have not kicked a ball but they returned to action in style with a thumping 8-1 victory on their own patch again the Crown who caught their opponents at their very best especially in the first half as they scored at will to build up a 6-0 lead. Nat Auclkand gave Pheasant the lead and he added number two when he headed home a Joe Forester cross. Auckland sealed a first half hat trick when he rifled home a stunning volley from 25 yards out. Jack Coathupe tapped home number four and Joe Forester scored the next from the penalty spot after Dan Clements had been upended. Auckland completed the Crown's first half misery when his shot bounced over their keeper to make it 6-0. Dan Sloan pulled a goal back for the Crown early in the second half but further goals from Ben Highmore who was set up by Auckland and Auckland himself whose home a Forester cross for his fifth of the game wrapped up the emphatic victory for the promotion hopefuls.

Basement side Corsham Park Rangers were unable to raise a side fro their trip to Westbury Ranger B leaving both sides with the headache of when the match will now get played.

The only Thursday match in Division Three saw AFC Bell move into third place behind both Biddestone White Horse and Pheasant FC after they defeated Westbury Rangers B 5-0 and they returned to their Devizes base content with the victory that extended their unbeaten run to 11 matches even if the result did flatter them a little, and Rangers were left wondering what they could have done if they didn't have to use Gavin Palmer as a makeshift keeper and unfortunately for Palmer despite his best efforts he was at fault for three of the Bell's goals. Craig Townsend scored Bell's opener when he fired home a free kick, Neil Gordon then hit the post for Westbury before Nathan Moffat made it 2-0. The second period saw Jonathan Couch add number three before super substitute Gareth Evans came of the bench to score goals four and five.

DIVISION FOUR With division four pacesetters Steeple Ashton Rangers not having a match all eyes were focused on the sides below them who were battling it out for what should be the runners up spot behind the champions elect. Ashton are not yet certain of the title but if they were to lose out now they would only have themselves to blame but the only team who can pip them to the champions crown is Riverside Renegades who are themselves posed for a top two finish after they defeated Wanderers 1-0 in what was described by both teams as the best game of football they have played this season. Joe Taylor scored the winner for Riverside early in the first half but after his strike the match flowed from end to end with chances falling to both teams and had Wanderers keeper Simon Cleaver not played a blinder on his debut the visitors to Southwick might have won by a couple more goals. Wanderers themselves went close to scoring and they thought that they had claimed a shared of the spoils late on but Dave Grandy's scrambled effort was ruled out for offside. Riverside now need just one point from their remaining three games to take a piece of silverware in their first season on the league.

The only side that can now catch Riverside for second spot is Three Crowns United after their 5-2 triumph over Trowbridge Town Supporters' Club ended the hopes of Kevin Williams sides chances of glory but kept their own very much alive as they followed up their 12-1 win over North Star B in midweek with a 5-2 success. Paul Maddox led the rout against North Star with six, Mike Cassidy scored three, Mike Weaving, Marcus Young and Paul Dodimead were also on target. Their win over the supporters' club stretched their unbeaten run to eight matches and it was Mike Cassidy who set them on their way when he scored inside two minutes. Paul Maddox added number two from the penalty spot after Adie Bray had been impeded. Bray himself bagged number three and Marcus Young scored the second penalty of the morning after Kelvin Page had been bundled over in the area. Simon Hussey scored direct from a corner to give the town hope of a second half revival which was ended by Young whose delightful chipped finish made it 5-1. Gary McLaughlin scored the Town's second which proved to be just another consolation.

Corsham Centre B were missing key players who had been called into the first team to play in the Sunday Cup final and the lost of Dan King and Tom Lye showed as Kings Arms (Market Lavington) ground out a 2-0 victory in the Centre's penultimate game of the campaign. After a futile first half goals from Steven Foord and Andy Oldham for whom it was his first goal for the Kinger's won the game for the visitors to Meriton Avenue.

North Star B succumbed to their second heavy loss in four days when they were beaten 8-1 away at Old Road Tavern which came on the back of their 12-1 loss against Three Crowns United on Thursday night. Credit must be given to North Star who started the match against the Tavern with just seven players before a couple more arrived to take the total to nine of which they played most of the game. Matt Tracey netted the Star's consolation but it was always going to be an uphill task for the strugglers but they will take heart from their second half performance that saw them finish the second 45 minutes 1-1 this was after the Tavern had struck seven unanswered first half goals. Fabian Prangle started the ball rolling, Darren Jones scored next, with Ryan Tyrell adding the third. Joe Court's shot deflected in for the fourth and Prangle made it 5-0 with his second of the game. Darren Jones scored goals six and seven to complete his hat trick before Colin Hayward netted the final goal of the game.

After a four week lay off that had seen them pull out of two of a possible for games due to a shortage of players doubts about the future of Division four side North Star B look to be unfounded as they returned to action against Three Crowns United and they even gave up home advantage and made the short trip from Priestley Grove, Calne to Stanley Park to ensure their Thursday fixture was played. The result defiantly was not what the Star would have wanted or expected as they were crushed 12-1 which was a complete turnaround from when the sides met in September when North Star won 3-1. Marcus Young and Paul Maddox were the Star's chief tormentors as they were on top of their game as Three Crowns took their unbeaten run to seven matches. Mike Cassidy scored the Three Crown's opener on their way to a 6-1 half time lead, Paul Maddox scored a hat trick, the third of which came from the penalty spot, Mike Weaving scored his first for the club and Young who had a hand in five of the early goals completed the half dozen. Paul Maddox scored another treble in the second half to take his tally for the game to six, Mike Cassidy scored another two, one of which came from the penalty spot to seal another hat trick and Paul Dodimead netted the final goal of the game. Three Crowns were also responsible for the Star's goal when keeper Steve Warner deflected a shot in his own net after a goal mouth scramble
