Chippenham Town striker Sean Seavill could be in line for a shock move to Blue Square Premier side Salisbury City.

The Bluebirds are desperate to offload some members of their first team squad and the shaggy-haired forward has caught the eye of boss Nick Holmes, who was recently at Hardenhuish Park to observe the 1-0 win against Banbury United.

Seavill was meant to play for the side’s reserves in last night’s game against Swindon Town, but had to pull out at the last minute because of a groin strain picked up in Saturday’s draw against Hitchin Town.

Seavill is still a Chippenham player for the moment, and could feature in Saturday’s trip to Mangotsfield United if his injury clears up, but it seems inevitable that he will be turning out for The Whites in the near future.

While keen to keep hold of his best players, manager Adie Mings has been told he must trim his playing budget by nearly a third. Their local rivals are in a similar position recently slashed wages at the club by 30 per cent in order to ease their financial burden.

Salisbury skipper Aaron Cook, Scott Bartlett and Matt Robinson asked for a transfer after hearing the news while prolific striker Matt Tubbs was sent on loan to league side Bournemouth to further reduce their overheads.

Mings confirmed that he is attempting to move players on but expects Seavill to be the only immediate bit of business conducted, after Cortez Belle’s move to Halesowen was put on hold due to his suspension from the FA.

“We’re speaking to a couple of club at the moment, including a couple in higher divisions,” he said.

“We’re trying desperately hard to put some deals in place, not because we want to, but because w have to fall into line with the budget.”

Mings also confirmed that utility man Luke Gullick, who missed the Hitchin game with a dead leg, could make his return this Saturday at Mangotsfield.
