Adie Mings Column
We are just a small side who have over-achieved

WE will go to Halesowen in the play-offs next week and, although there is not much between the two sides, they will start ahead.

Looking at it on paper, their squad and the money they have will give them the edge, in terms of achievements between us and them, there is not much in it, which means it will be an interesting game.

The other play-off game is likely to be Team Bath against Bashley because I feel King's Lynn should win the league now.

I have always said Bashley are a good side and they beat Team Bath 4-3 a few weeks ago. Their attacking force will give sides a lot of problems.

But obviously Team Bath are a fine side so it is going to be a tight game.

But what we will be doing is trying to beat Team Bath in the final league game of the season at Hardenhuish Park.

They could still win the league if King's Lynn slip up at Merthyr Tydfil.

Although, because we won't win it, I don't have a preference who does.

I know the boys do not want a side winning the league in front of them but if that is the way the scenario goes then they will have to accept it and learn from it.

Going into the play-offs, we might be the underdogs but it just means all the pressure is on the other sides.

We are just a small little side who have over-achieved.

A lot of people said when we lost to Hitchin we would struggle because we weren't physical enough or didn't have enough experience.

Some have been sniping and trying to shoot down the players but what they have done is exceptional.

Chris Snoddy is getting better as he gets older, Ross Adams has improved and Scott Lye has been a revelation.

Aaron Cornwall was the misfit nobody wanted and he has come here and proved himself.

They have all been fantastic this season and continued it in the 4-1 win at Cheshunt on Saturday.

It was a difficult place to go and play football because of the pitch, the wind and the fact they have a lot of players fighting for their lives.

The first goal was always going to be crucial and then we gave away a sloppy penalty, which was a little harsh on Ross Adams.

At half time I told the players if the work ethic was there then the quality would shine through.

It did, which meant I had to buy a couple of crates of beer for the boys on the way back.

I said, if they got a good result I would do, but they would have got it earlier if they'd done their jobs earlier. But seriously, it was good to see the lads enjoying themselves on the way back and having a bit of banter.
