We got complacent but showed our resilience to win
I'd like to start by saying thank you to all the supporters who turned up against King's Lynn on Saturday and at Cirencester Town on Monday.
A big crowd always adds to the excitement from the players and you can see them buzzing.
They see the crowd arriving earlier and the ground getting full as they warm up and it adds more spice to the occasion.
It was one of the main reasons for the level of performance against Lynn, which I thought was very good.
The lads were down after the game but I said to them there was no disgrace in drawing with a high level side.
That is the standard they have set themselves, because they are disappointed to draw with a side who are one of the top teams.
It was a different story at Cirencester Town on Monday. It was a struggle. After scoring early on, I felt we could have been in for a good evening but we took our foot off the gas.
We got complacent. I said to them at training last week, it is all well and good picking yourself up to play against King's Lynn in front of a big crowd because everyone wants to play in those.
But championships are won and lost on teams being able to perform whoever you are playing - good or bad sides.
A few of the lads took their eye off the ball and nearly came unstuck.
You have to give credit to the lads though. We have drawn games recently where we have played really well and deserved the win.
To play poorly and still win against Cirencester is a credit to them and their resilience.
At 1-1 I knew we would get another chance because Cirencester were pushing on, which is why I made the change of bringing Martin Paul on for Sean Seavill and swapping Dave Pratt with Sam Allison on the wing.
I knew we would have a better chance of hitting the target if Sam and Martin were up front.
It showed when Sam converted Martin's cross and it shows the value of experience. Martin came on and put us on the front foot.
Thankfully we got the win but we don't normally play that badly. We were poor on the day so we need to improve and put in another professional performance at Tiverton on Saturday.
