Adie Mings Column
It was our worst display since I've been here
Tuesday's 3-0 defeat at Gloucester City was the worst performance since I have been in charge.
We have players who had no pride, no passion and no desire. We didn't even match them for work rate.
First and foremost they have to work hard. I told them that before the game and they didn't do it.
It had the makings of a really good game but we put in a very, very poor performance.
We were that bad, we never really created any clear cut chances and you can never say that about us.
Even if Sam Allison had scored the penalty, it might have been
masking over things and now it gives me food for thought.
Players have to prove their worth week in week out and they cannot be allowed to play for the sake of it.
There has to be competition. If you want to be a successful side there must be competition for places.
Maybe some players are not as good as they think they are and there are some areas which I need to address.
Throughout 2007 these boys have been excellent but if there is a situation where poor performances carry on over three or four games then I have got to look to make changes.
But I think there will be changes for Saturday at Clevedon.
Luke Gullick's cast on his wrist came off on New Year's Day so he should be available for Saturday.
Mark Badman missed out at Gloucester because he has had a virus over the last couple of weeks but he should be back.
I know there might have been a couple of
rumours about Mark's future but he is always in my plans. I would take Bads anywhere.
I have also noticed
another rumour that if attendances don't rise a couple of players might have to leave, but I haven't heard any truth in it.
Obviously we had a fans forum last night and it is good for the club to be open and honest with the supporters.
I had never been to one before but I always
answer any questions put to me and I hope it was useful for everyone who came.
