LUCY Smith will be gunning for three title at the National Championships at Royal Leamington Spa this month.

Twenty-two-year-old Lucy will feature in the ladies U25 singles as well as teaming up with her younger sister Katy in the U25 pairs.

The Royal Wootton Bassett youngster will then team up with Spencer Moulton’s Graham Shadwell in the mixed pairs.

Meanwhile, Box’s Sue Cooke will be representing the county in Warwickshire after beating Chippenham Town’s Viv Baskerville 21-19 in the ladies senior singles final.

In the men’s senior singles Bassett’s Chris Cheesley lost 21-12 to Holt’s Tony Keating who progresses to Leamington.

Cheesley also missed out in the mixed fours after teaming up with fellow Bassett player Barry Sictorness and Purton’s Chris Mitchell and Alison Fail in the mixed fours ahead of their Dorset and Wilts Area final loss to Martin Chislett’s Greenhill quartet.

In the men’s senior pairs (O55s) Chippenham Town’s Steve Heseltine and Jeremy Haselton have qualified for Leamington after beating Holt’s Tony Keating and partner 18-16.

The Chippenham Town combination play Norfolk at Leamington in the opening round on Friday, August 18.

Beaten finalists last year in the men’s Top Club competition, Royal Wootton Bassett are well on their way to booking a place at Leamington in this year’s competition.

They have reached the Dorset and Wilts (Area 9) final and play Poole Park on Saturday at home at Bassett.

WILTSHIRE Ladies recorded a double in the South West Counties League with victories over Devon and Dorset in the space of six days.

Their fourth league success came when winning on five of the six rinks and defeating Devon 140-95 at South Petherton.

They followed this up six days later on Wednesday by winning on four rinks and beating Dorset by 30 shots at Alderbury 128-98.

JUNIOR COUNTY men’s side made it three wins out of three in the U25 South West Counties League with a commanding 78-41 win over Cornwall at Culm Vale.

THREE teams in the southern section of the men’s Wiltshire four rink league, Holt (160 pts), Spencer Moulton (137 pts) and Chippenham Town (135 pts) have already booked their places in the last eight of the play-offs for the overall title.

However, the fourth and final place will only be decided this week when the final round of matches in the south section are played.
