IT HAS proved a superb start to the season of 2017 for Holt Bowls Club.

In the Three-Rink League against Chippenham Park, rinks skipped by Chris Poole and Justin Davis found themselves nip and tuck after five ends before both secured successes.

The same could not be said for the final rink skipped by Graham Archard, who found themselves 9-0 down after seven ends.

After a dramatic eighth end, Archard’s unit picked up a four which provided momentum to get themselves back into the game, getting level on the 17th end before kicking on and finishing up 21-17 winners.

The second Three-Rink league game of the week brough a stronger result for Holt against North Wilts.

Rinks skipped by Ben Gadd and Pete Hardie got off to good starts (10-4 and 12-6), while the final rink skipped Archard showed no repeat of their previous slow start, racing to a 15-6 lead after 10 ends.

All three rinks stayed in control throughout the remaining ends, ensuring Holt came away with maximum points.
