THE Christie Miller trio of Chris Easton, Nigel Price and skip Andy Moore have reached today’s semi-final in the Men’s Over 50 Triples at the national indoor bowls championships being held at Nottingham, writes DAVE EATON.

They booked their place in the last four last night (Monday) with a hard-fought 12-9 quarter-final victory over Wey Valley, Surrey, team of Bill Short, Paul Vamvacopoulos and Ian Ross.

In a low scoring game – only 21 shots were scored over 16 ends – Moore’s trio led 5-2 after five ends and 10-3 at ten but had been pulled back to 12-8 at 15 and finally won 12-9 at 16.

Four years ago in Northampton (2013) the trio of Easton, Price and Moore were beaten in the men’s Over 50s triples final going down 18-16 to three-time winners Folkstone.

Prior to the victory over Surrey side Wey Valley yesterday, the Miller men from Melksham had cruised through the last 16 round defeating Bromsgrove’s Lew Whitehouse, Graham Arnold and Neil Brebreton 16-7.

They led 5-1 at five ends, 9-4 at ten and pulled away to a 16-7 success at 16 ends.

In today’s Mens Over 50 Triples semi-final Christie Miller will face Egham, Surrey trio of Andy Beaumont, Barry Jenkins and Steve Tuohy with a 10am start.

The other semi-final is between Acle (Norfolk) and Dolphin (Poole, Dorset).

The final is scheduled for 3pm with Christie Miller seeking to go one better than four years ago.
