THE TEAM of Chris Easton, Nigel Price and skip Andy Moore are on the title trail again in the national Over 50s triples competition, writes DAVE EATON.

The Christie Miller trio are through to the inter-area final of this season’s competition for the second time in the past three years.

They booked their place in the last 32 against Ilminster with an 18-9 home victory over Bristol led by Mike Humphires in the Area 30 final last week.

This success followed earlier Area 30 wins in the competition over Dave Williams (North Wilts) and then two extremely tight matches that both went to the last end.

They edged past Nailsea’s John Couch 15-14 in the quarter-finals and then In the Area 30 Over 50 triples semi-final edged-out John Freeman’s triples team from Clarrie Dunbar by one shot 16-15, however the area final was a much easier affair as they won it 18-9.

The inter-area final against Will Anderson’s triple from Ilminster is scheduled to be played on Saturday, January 23 at the neutral venue of Clarrie Dunbar (10am). It is a last 32 tie and just one step away from reaching the latter stages and last 16 of the Over 50s triples in Nottingham at the end of March.

Three years ago in Northampton this same team of Easton, Price and Moore almost went all the way in this competition losing in the February final to Folkstone 18-16.

It was a tremendous performance as this Folkstone team had won this competition in 2010 been runners-up in 2011 and followed up their win over Christie Miller by retaining the title in 2014.

Moore & co are hoping to go one stage further in 2016 and win the title.
