WILTSHIRE take on the cream of England’s young short mat bowlers at Melksham’s Christie Miller Sports Centre, on Sunday.

This will be the final warm-up game for the national Under 21s before they play in the British Isles Championships in May, with the match being the first time that an England team has played against Wiltshire at short mat bowls.

Two Wiltshire Under 21 players will be playing for England against their home county – Tom Bright (Bromham) and Aidan Wicks (Westbury Blue Circle).

The game will start at 10am and should be completed by around 4pm.

Wiltshire County President Colin Waldeck (Seend) said: “We re pleased and privileged to be playing this game. We hope to do well and we hope that more younger players will be encouraged to play short mat bowls.

“Aidan and Tom are already England squad players and we have a few more Wiltshire youngsters who are looking to impress the England management.’’
