Sturgis frustrated by Badminton finish
Chippenham rider Beanie Sturgis was annoyed after a final round slip-up by horse Monarch's Rock left her with a final score of 97.6 penalty points.
The 34-year-old was handily placed going into the last show jumping round after solid dressage and eventing stages.
But Monarch's Rock didn't jump to his full potential in the show jumping round, leaving Sturgis frustrated.
She said: "He was fabulous for a lot of it but we had a run out at a corner when he lost his concentration going in and couldn't come out to the left, which was annoying.
" But he was still very quick, he climbed 34 places after the cross country.
"Obviously being very competitive I'm pretty furious that my Badminton could have gone a lot better.
"But this time last year the horse got eliminated in Ireland and we thought we'd give up with him, so he's picked up and come a long way since then."
