SWINDON TOWN: Flint off
SIMON Ferry has taken responsibility for Aden Flint’s red card in the 1-1 draw with Scunthorpe on Saturday.
Ferry lost possession in the Scunny penalty area just seconds before Leon Clarke’s galloping run towards the Town box was ended by Flint, earning him his second booking of the match and a subsequent red just 33 minutes into proceedings at the County Ground.
Although the centre-back’s challenge was clumsy, Ferry has held his hands up to accept the blame.
“We went one up and we were quite confident but I should have shot, they broke and it ended with Aden getting sent off,” he said.
“That changed the game. When we went down to 10 men I still can’t remember too many clear-cut chances and then you saw in the second half we had a few.
“I had the ball in the box and I should have shot but I’ve tried to slot Collo in and they’ve broken down the end of the pitch. “I think Leon’s played a one-two with their other striker, Leon’s gone through and Flinty’s taken him out. That’s his second booking and that’s him off. I don’t know if it’s harsh or not but it happens and we’ve had to play the rest of the game with 10 men.
“I can’t remember them creating many clear chances but when you’re down to 10 men when you get chances you need to take them.
“I’m not blaming anybody because I missed my fair share and the sending-off is probably my fault. We need to take the chances.”
