TOMMY Miller has highlighted a variety of areas in which Swindon Town must improve if they are to sustain their promotion push this season.
The stand-in skipper, who has been featured 16 times for the Robins since joining from Huddersfield over the summer, picked out Town’s profligacy up front, their mentality towards home matches and the nature of goals conceded as three of the most pressing issues to deal with at present.
And he wants Swindon to cut out the errors and turn on the style against Scunthorpe this weekend.
“The manager gave us a day off to recharge the batteries, but we are back in now and training hard to get ready for Saturday’s game,” he said.
“We looked at things we could improve on after Coventry and what we could prevent, and the goals were disappointing. “
We also looked at some of the chances we had and how many times we got into the opposition box and we caused them problems, so there was encouraging stuff and things to work on.
“Colchester at home was tough as we didn’t put in the performance we wanted to and got beaten, but Saturday was a great comeback, although being 2-0 down at home was a bit disappointing.
“But we got back into the game and in the end they were hanging on and waiting for the final whistle.
“We love playing at home although our away form has been very good.
“The bottom line is we have a good team, and we can take the game to the opposition, but we can’t afford to go a goal behind.
“We need to get last year’s home form back, and if we can we will be fine.
“If you are not mentally right you are going to find it hard, and we need to approach it like we do every other game, and if we do that then hopefully we can go on and win.”
