JON-PAUL McGovern has paid tribute to former Swindon Town chairman Jeremy Wray.

McGovern played more than 150 times for the Robins between 2007 and 2011, when he moved to Carlisle, during which time the consortium of which Wray was a member took over the club.

The midfielder had nothing but praise to dish out for the ex-Town supremo.

He told the Advertiser: “He took a lot of time to get to know the players. He always took a keen interest in their family life and he is a big family man himself.

“I don’t know about what is going on down there but you’ve got to look at the team, how it’s performing and how he supported the manager to get to where they are now.

“I can only speak for myself and my own experiences but he was brilliant with me when I was moving on and I have nothing but thanks to give him.

“I used to see him on a day to day basis, and he was always taking time out of his schedule to talk to players when they needed to talk.

“I have also been lucky enough to work with Pete Winkleman at MK Dons so I’ve had two of the best chairmen you would want to work with.”
